REDKEY [mdash] David L. Downing, 75, of Redkey, went home to be with his Savior Jesus on May 26, 2024. Dave lost his battle with pancreatic cancer but gained his eternal life in heaven. David was his wife's love of her heart, her best friend, her beach and travel buddy, her love forever more, the best father to Brian and Andy, best grandfather to Aly, and the best great grandfather to Grayson. He touched so many loves throughout his 75 years and made the world a better place.Dave was born in Bluffton, on Aug. 16, 1948, a son of the late Edna Ruth (Hines) and Robert Lemuel Downing. He was a 1966 graduate of Markleville High School and went on to further his education at DeVry Technical School graduating in 1968. Dave proudly served our country in the United States Air Force and worked as a technician for Indiana Bell, Ameritech, and retired from AT&T in Anderson. He was a member of Redkey Faith Ministries Church, and enjoyed wood carving, fishing, art painting, Euchre playing, crochet art, gardening, bird watching, hunting, small engine repair, raising and painting gourds, and volunteering at church.Dave is survived by his lovely wife, Barbara Kay (Wood) Downing; two sons, Brian Downing, Andrew Downing (wife, Sara); brother, Jim Downing; sister, Linda Shock (husband, Michael); granddaughter, Alexandra Downing; and great-grandson, Grayson Perkins. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 3, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Redkey Faith Ministries Church, 9811 W. Ind. 67, Redkey.Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Craig Cotherman officiating. Private burial and military honors will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery in Anderson. ANDERSON[mdash] John Ivan Bundy, 76, of Anderson, passed away on May 26, 2024, surrounded by his family. John was born Aug. 17, 1947, in Muncie, to John A. and Mary Louis (Fields) Bundy. He attended and graduated from Mississinewa High School in 1965. After high school, he attended Ball State University where he received not only his bachelor's degree, but also his master's degree in art education. John was an art teacher for Anderson Community School Corp. for nearly 40 years, retiring in 2010. He found his spiritual home at St. Mary's Catholic Church and was dedicated to the faith. He was a member of the Indianapolis Flycasters, (FFA), Federated Fly Fisherman (FFF), Trout Unlimited, (TU), Grand Rapids Flycasters (GRF), and the Anderson Federation of Teachers (AFT). John enjoyed planning the 1965 high school class reunions and he never missed a single one. John was extremely creative, had a quirky sense of humor, loved being a teacher, and enjoyed fly fishing, fly tying, camping, and canoeing.He was innovative in his teaching, having developed and initiated courses in computer graphics, cartooning and animation, web design, and digital art and photo projects in addition to teaching traditional art classes. Over the years, he taught students across all grades, K through 12. He was also trained in CISCO. John will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Penny; sons, Aaron (Janine) Bundy, Aarik (Sandy) Bundy, and Brock (Heather) Bundy; stepchildren, Kristan Bell-Warren, Jeffery (Penny) Bell, and Phebe Bell-Tolsdorf; grandchildren, Taylor Edwards, Mac Warren, Liam Warren, Molly Bell, Sage Bell, Owen Tolsdorf, Audra Tolsdorf, Max Bundy, and Ava Bundy; great-grandchild, Robbie Bell; and sister, Mary Olive Christie. He also is survived by two sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law; cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, June 10, 2024, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1115 Pearl St., Anderson. The funeral mass will begin at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery. FRANKTON [mdash] Landon Cole Bouslog, age 23, of Frankton, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 24, 2024.Landon was born in Anderson, Indiana, on Nov. 16, 2000, to Chad and Amanda (Johnson) Bouslog.Landon will always be remembered for his loving heart and kind soul. His personality was known as soon as he entered the room and always put others first. Landon grew up in Frankton and attended Frankton High School as a graduating member of the class of 2019. After graduating, Landon attended Purdue University. He entered the workforce and pursued a career in sales with Eads Construction, as well as helping his dad on the Bouslog Farm. From an early age, Landon expressed his love for playing sports, especially football. He enjoyed watching and attending Colts football games with his Dad. He was passionate about fitness and loved spending time in the gym with friends. Landon enjoyed music and singing in the car with his Mom. His true love in life was his dog, Roxie, he always said she had a way with his heart. Overall, Landon loved his family and loved spending quality time with them. (Bussell) Johnson, 87, of Anderson, passed away on May 27, 2024, at Northview Health and Living following an extended illness.She was born on Jan. 19, 1937, in Anderson, to Claude and Elizabeth (Alford) Bussell. She graduated from Anderson High School, Anderson University and Purdue University where she earned her bachelor's and master's degree in education.She was an elementary school teacher for Anderson Community Schools for over 30 years. She taught at Lindbergh, Edgewood, Washington, and Forest Hills Elementary schools. She loved being a teacher. She took several groups of students to England after founding a "Friends in England" club at Forest Hills School. She was a member of Madison Park Church of God. She was a scout leader. She enjoyed traveling and went around the world on the Queen Elizabeth II cruise following her retirement. RANCHO MIRAGE [mdash] We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of a beloved mother and cherished friend, Judith "Judy" (Abernathy) Reeves, who passed away peacefully on May 14, 2024, at the age of 83, in Rancho Mirage, California.Born in Anderson, Indiana, on May 19, 1940, Judy graduated from Anderson High School in 1958. She married her high school sweetheart, Norman Reeves, and embraced the life of a military spouse with grace and resilience, relocating 14 times in 30 years. Each move was an opportunity for Judy to touch new lives, weaving a tapestry of friendships and memories. They retired from the Air Force in 1989, and spent the next thirty years in Belleville and Shiloh, Illinois. Judy was an extraordinarily talented seamstress, quilt maker, and an avid doll maker and collector. Her hands, never idle, crafted not just garments and quilts, but genuine pieces of art that brought joy and comfort to all who had the privilege to receive them. Judy was a devout Christian, a steadfast member of her church, and dedicated her talents as a pianist and organist to her church's worship services. Judy left an indelible mark on the hearts of those she touched, weaving a legacy of creativity, faith, and love that will be remembered and cherish.Judy is survived by three children, Eric (Tina) Reeves of Woodbridge, Virginia, Craig Reeves of Anderson, Indiana, and Lisa (Chris) Meyer of Cathedral City, California; sister, Deana Hardin; five grandchildren, Nicholas Reeves, Zachary Reeves, Amy Reeves, Adam Meyer and Aaron Meyer; and seven great-grandchildren, who will miss her deeply but are comforted by the rich legacy of love and perseverance she leaves behind.In lieu of flowers, the family requests remembrances in Judy's honor be made to Alzheimers Coachella Valley. ANDERSON [mdash] James Elwood Walters, Jr., 99, passed on to be with the Lord on May 26, 2024, at Bethany Pointe Health Campus in Anderson.He is survived by sons, Phillip (Connie) Walters of Clinton, Indiana, Jim (Susan) Walters of Columbus, Indiana, John (Faith) Walters of Anderson; daughter, Christine McMasters of Stonington, Connecticut; sister, Jean Switzer of Covington, Indiana; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, LaVerne on Nov. 2, 2018; and seven brothers and sisters.James was born on May 22, 1925, in the small farm town of Cayuga, Indiana, in west central Indiana to parents, James E. Walters Sr. and Carrie (Hold) Walters. James was one of nine children and was affectionately known by his family as "Budd." He was a graduate of Cayuga High School. He married LaVerne Morgan on Sept. 9, 1945, in Danville, Illinois. Shortly after their wedding, they moved to Anderson, where James enrolled in Anderson College (now Anderson University) to prepare for the pastoral ministry.He and LaVerne pastored Church of God congregations in New Springfield, Ohio (1953-1957); Kendallville, Indiana (1957-1960); Columbus, Indiana (1960-1967); and Princeton, Indiana (1967-1990). Upon his retirement from the Princeton church, James and LaVerne moved back to Anderson, where they spent their retirement years. During this time, he also served for 14 years (1991-2005) as a part-time associate pastor at the New Life Community Church in Noblesville, where his son, Jim, was the senior pastor. Later he volunteered on the pastoral care team at the Madison Park Church of God in Anderson. Throughout his life, James had a caring pastoral heart and a positive impact on the lives of countless people. James was a people person and a loving, caring, husband and father. He enjoyed gardening, traveling. sports, and being with his family. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, but his legacy will live on through the lives of the many people whom his life and ministry touched.Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p .m. Monday, June 3, 2024, at Chesterfield Church of God, 123 Linden Avenue, Chesterfield, followed by the service at 1 p.m. officiated by Tom Malbone. ANDERSON [mdash] Barbara Ann Keller, 79, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 21, 2024.She was born Jan. 8, 1945, to Daniel and Mattie (Hagy) Bryan in Traverse City, Michigan. Barbara was married to the love of her life, Clay Keller Sr. for 45 years before his passing in May 2018.She worked as a paraeducator for Anderson Community School Corp. for 25 years before retiring in 2009. She enjoyed her job, her colleagues and her students. Through the years she thoroughly enjoyed being involved in her children's school activities. She was a member of the Anderson High School Band Parents Club, a Troop Leader for Girl Scouts and served many years as a PTA member.She was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church. She loved Jesus, reading her bible, writing scripture and God sightings in journals, and listening to gospel music. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her many dogs in life. Survivors include children, Steve Herget, Toni (Danny) Earl, Angie (Bobby) Hochstetler, Clay (Christy) Keller Jr.; grandchildren, Laci Montague (fiancé, Tyler), Bobby (Kia) Hochstetler, Courtney (Zach) Sylvester, Luke (Megan) Hochstetler, Anna (Noah) Lockwood, Lt. Cameron Earl (fiancé, Maddie); 18 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Deanna Bryan; many nieces and nephews; colleague and special friend, Charlene Moreillon; and her beloved constant companion, dog Winnie. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clay; her brother, Danny Bryan; her brother-in-law, Dewayne Keller; and sisters-in-law, Wilma Swango and Peggy Bulen. Boston, 46, of Elwood, passed away suddenly due to a blood clot that traveled to his heart at his home on May 16, 2024.Clint was born on July 13, 1977, in Anderson, to Kevin and Susie Boston. He graduated from Frankton High School in 1996. He worked a few years at Yorktown Tool and Die and then went to work for Specialties Company as a heavy machine operator. He was a loyal and hard-working employee for 21 years. Clint enjoyed baking delicious cookies and woodworking.He welcomed his daughter into this world in 2010 and he loved Calli more than anything in the world.He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tom and Dorothy Mears and Faris and Joanne Boston; and several great-aunts and uncles. He is survived along with his parents, by his daughter, Calli Boston; brothers, Greg (Bethany) Boston and family, Eli, Asher, and Isaac and Keith (Ashley) Boston and family Brittnee, Bailee, Ella, and Maci; aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his daughters mother, Tiffany.There will be a private viewing, then cremation. A celebration of life for Clint will be held on his parent's property, where a tree will be planted in Clint's honor at the home he grew up in. Born on Sept. 9, 1944, Tim was the son of Ralph D. Oxley and E. Jean Oxley (Baker).Tim spent many years as a forklift driver for General Motors, known for his reliability and hard work. He was a skilled mechanic, a lover of motorcycles, and enjoyed boating with friends and family. Tim had a playful spirit, known for his knack for fixing anything and his mischievous pranks. He cherished watching his grandson play the guitar and adored all his grandchildren.Tim will be remembered for his generosity, kindness and unwavering love for his family and friends. WILKINSON [mdash] Donald L. McKinsey, 90, of Wilkinson, passed away on May 18, 2024, at Hanco*ck Regional. He enjoyed a rewarding life, secured by his devoted family's love and gratitude. He was born in Hamilton County on Sept. 10, 1933, to Cheever G. McKinsey and Ruth (Reed) Gascho.Don was raised on his family's farm near Cicero. His parents divorced when he was just 3 years old. In spite of this and other adversities as a child, Don graduated early from high school and grew remarkably as a young adult through self-discipline. He discovered how fruitful life could be if he worked in earnest.Don moved to Anderson as an adult, at first sharing tenancy with best friend, Raymond Coy. Ultimately Raymond (with wife, Lena) introduced Don to his future bride, Miss Bonnie Kerry formerly of Butler County, Pennsylvania. Don and Bonnie married in 1957, sharing 62 years mainly in the Wilkinson area until 2019, when Bonnie passed away.Donald worked at Guide Lamp in Anderson for over 42 years, retiring in 1996. Thereafter he became very active in OEM auto parts specializing in rare spark plugs of every variety. This pastime bestowed on him a top-ranked reputation across the U.S. for two decades by collectors.Donald is survived by son, Barry (Kristina) McKinsey of Greenfield; two daughters, Tawnya Ashley (Carlo Moore) and Denise (Daniel) Stone, all of Anderson; four grandchildren, Sharla (Jordan) Matthews, Benjamin (Joanna) Ashley, Kenda (Nitin) Bhatia, and Jeremiah "Jace" Ashley; five great-grandchildren; sister, Linda Jones of Indianapolis; sister-in-law, Brenda Gascho of Noblesville; nephew, Scott (Keri) Gascho; niece, Melody (Jonathon) Harvey; and his beloved dog, Dutchess.He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bonnie; son, Cory Ross McKinsey; brother, Herbert Gascho Jr.; and nephew, John M. ANDERSON [mdash] Marilyn Mills Ault, of Anderson, died peacefully at home on May 22, 2024, surrounded by her family.She was born in Anderson, to Milton Mills Sr. and Lydia Walker Mills at St. John's Hospital on June 24, 1935.Marilyn and her husband, Jim, were married for over 67 event filled years. Their journey together began 72 years ago with their first date at the Anderson High School's Junior Prom.She attended Butler University and was a vocal "Dawgs" basketball fan her entire life. While at Butler, she became a proud member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority.Marilyn and Jim spent their life in Anderson until they were transferred to Rochester, New York, then Saginaw, Michigan, and culminating with two fantastic years in Paris, France. That was exciting, but she often said that their best move was when they retired and returned to Anderson ... returning to friends and family. She loved her friends, her bridge clubs, the Fruits, the Ducks, the GOLF Girls, and the city of Anderson. Marilyn also loved golf, tennis, skiing, Walloon Lake, travel, Arizona winters, and a little red wine.There were many accomplishments that she could brag about, but mostly she bragged about her two sons, Jeff and Mark. All her life she was very involved in the Anderson community, which she dearly loved. Marilyn co-chaired several community projects with Jim including the restoration of the Carnegie Library into the Anderson Art Center, the new surgical Center at St. Vincent, as well as the annual Golf outing fundraiser for the St. Vincent Children's Clinic. She was also deeply involved in the Anderson Symphony, Literacy Coalition, Anderson Museum of Arts, Victoria Guild, Anderson Area Children's Choir, PEO sorority, American Church in Paris board, and her church for over 80 years, First United Methodist.Marilyn is survived by her husband, Jim; sons, Jeff and Mark (Ken); brothers, Milton Jr., John (Barbara), Paul, Bruce (Darla), along with many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Dick, who was killed in Vietnam; sisters-in-law, Susie Mills, Karen Mills, Harriet Ault Wheeler, and Gayle Ault; and brother-in-law, Carl Ault.Services for Marilyn will be held on Monday, May 27, 2024, at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 1215 Jackson St., Anderson, with Rev. ANDERSON [mdash] Henry J. Brown, 84, of Anderson, passed away on May 20, 2024, surrounded by his family. Henry was born on March 28, 1940, in Anderson to the late Herbert and Madeline L. (Lipps) Brown. He married his loving wife, Cheryl Brown, on May 18, 2001. After graduating from high school, Henry faithfully served his country in the United States Army from 1961-1964. He was honorably discharged from the Army and then began working at Delco-Remy, where he retired after 31 years. Henry was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Anderson, Indiana. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed fishing with his best friend, Gary, and his two sons, Joey and Bryan. He loved westerns and was a huge fan of John Wayne. Henry enjoyed gardening and growing tomatoes with his wife. He was an animal lover, especially his three dogs.Henry will be dearly missed by his wife, Cheryl; his children, Rhonda (Chip) Broderick, Tammie (Jim) Humphrey, Joey (Kim) Brown, Bryan (Tranda) Brown, Michele (Brad) Brown and Ulhonda Brown; daughter-in-law Lori Wagner; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Russell Lazenby, Melvin Brown, Alvin Lazenby, Leo Lazenby and Pete Owens; and sister Joanne. ANDERSON [mdash] James Moore Jr, 91, of Anderson, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024, at Sugar Fork Crossing in Anderson. Jim was born on Oct. 8, 1932, in Anderson, Indiana, to James Moore Sr. and Helen Terrell.Jim graduated from Anderson High School in 1951. He retired from Delco Remy Division of General Motors in 1985.Jim was the oldest living past Master of Fellowship Masonic Lodge #681, member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Murat Shrine, and Madison County Shrine Club. He was also a member of the Anderson American Legion Post #127, and Madison County Golf Association. Jim had a passion for golf and enjoyed spending time with his family. He also loved following the Indiana Hoosiers, the Indianapolis Colts and the Indiana Pacers. Jim proudly served his country in the United Sates Air Force in the Korean War. Jim is survived by his two children, Pam (Kevin) Anderson, of Anderson, and Jama (Bob) Jameson, of Anderson; a sister Paula Adams, of Elkhart; a brother-in-iaw Larry Broady, of Spring Hill, Florida; grandson Ryan (Marci) Jameson, of Tennessee; two great-grandchildren, Makenzi and Cooper Jameson; a special cousin, Frank Burrows; and several nieces and nephews. Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Pattie Ann "Martin" Moore; his parents; a sister Nancy Broady; a brother-in-law Don Adams; and his grandson, Brent Jameson. MARTINSVILLE [mdash] Warren Harland Waymire, 87, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024, at IU Methodist in Indianapolis, Indiana.He was born Saturday, April 3, 1937, to Harland and Virginia (Long) Waymire in Elwood, Indiana.Warren graduated from Elwood High School in 1955. After graduation he served in the United States Navy for seven years. During his time in the Navy, he was an airplane navigator flying off aircraft carriers on the Atlantic Ocean. He was on many reconnaissance flights over Cuba leading up to the Bay of Pigs invasion. On Aug. 26, 1962, Warren married Rebecca Rose "Becky" Ricks. He then attended Ball State where he received a bachelor's degree and went on to obtain his master's degree. He also worked toward a doctorate degree and completed his all-but-dissertation at IU Bloomington. Warren worked for Ivy Tech writing adult education programs. He worked for Senator Vance Hartke. Warren retired in 2002 after working for 30 years for the Indiana Department of Correction, including three years as Deputy Commissioner under Governor Evan Bayh. He lived in Morgan County 45 years in the same house in Foxcliff where he loved to sit on the deck and enjoy the birds and the lake. After retirement he served 30 years on the Mapleturn Utilities Board of Directors, including 20 as Chairman of the Board which saw several expansions during his tenure. He was also on the Board of Supervisors of the Morgan County Soil and Water Conservation District for 15 Years. Warren was a great environmentalist and loved nature; he always enjoyed family gatherings, fishing trips with his buddies, and being active in the community. Sports was a big thing with Warren. He played in high school on the basketball and football team. He played basketball on the Naval base team, and he loved swimming across the lake where he lived in Foxcliff. But tennis became his biggest love. He loved playing and organizing many tennis tournaments in Morgan County, including the tennis tournaments for the Fall Foliage Festival in Morgan County. Over the years, Warren won several senior tennis tournaments. He was always active in the community, a good communicator, and was always on the go doing something. He was loved by his family and respected in the community.Warren is survived by his wife, Becky; sisters Marjorie "Margie" Adair of Anderson, Charlotte Henderson, of Key Largo, Florida; 36 nephews; nieces; great nephews; great nieces; great-great nephews; and great-great nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harland and Virginia; brother John Waymire. No services or viewing are planned at this time. A Celebration of His Life will held at a later date.Contributions may be made in his memory to The Indiana Nature Conservancy.

ANDERSON [mdash] Paula passed from this life on early Friday morning May 17 at home in the care of her family.Paula was born in Anderson on Oct. 9, 1931, to Uyless Melvin and Thelma (Donovan) Perry. She lived in Anderson her entire life. Paula graduated from Anderson High School in 1949. Thereafter she attended St John's Nursing School, obtaining her RN, and meeting her lifelong friends JoAnne Dent (later James) and Mary Ireland (later Dunbar).On Feb. 7, 1953, Paula married Jack Savage. They were inseparable until his death in October 2012. Paula was preceded in death by her parents; brother Melvin and sister Juanita. Paula leaves behind a loving family: son Jeff (Columbia, Tennessee), daughter Nancy (Indianapolis); daughter-in-law Diane; grandchildren Austin Savage, Sheree Savage, Nathaniel Savage, Zoe Savage and Dustin Nunley, and great-grandson Ayden Savage.Paula was an RN at Community Hospital, then later became part of the office staff for Dr. Frank Donaldson where she worked until her retirement. She touched and comforted many lives in her career as a nurse.Holidays were always centered around family gatherings at Paula's home. Christmas was especially important. The house was always decorated completely, and the family was always there regardless of where they were living.Paula will be greatly missed by family and friends, but she leaves us with memories that are unequaled and irreplaceable.There will be no public services. ANDERSON [mdash] Larry Ralph Hoover, 77, passed away on May 14, 2024. He was born Sept. 19, 1946, in Anderson, to Ralph and Janet Hoover. Larry graduated from Anderson High School in 1966 and served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam.He retired from General Motors after 40 years. He was a deacon and active member of Valley Grove Free Will Baptist Church. ANDERSON [mdash] It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother and grandmother, Jackie Kay Frasher, on May 3, 2024. Surrounded by family, she left this earth to join Charlie, her husband of 52 years, and their son, Kyle, in heaven.Born on July 29, 1947, in Winchester, Indiana, Jackie married the love of her life, Charles William Frasher, on Feb. 8, 1969. She worked as a hairdresser in her younger days and later she workedat Valley Grove Elementary while raising her children.After Tonya and Kyle both graduated from high school, she worked for Meijer for more than 20 years. Known for her vivacious personality, she made friends wherever she went. A farm girl at heart, she kept an immaculate home and loved to cook, but gardening was her passion.Family was everything to Jackie. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them and especially loved being a grandmother to Olivia and Tyler. BLOOMINGTON [mdash] Elizabeth Christa von Buchler, age 48, of Bloomington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at the IU Health Hospice House after fighting a cancer battle since February.She was born on May 8, 1976, in Anderson, the daughter of Wolfgang and Judith (Lewis) von Buchler.Elizabeth went to Chesterfield Elementary School and graduated from Highland High School. She then went on to graduate from Indiana University while living in the Collins-Smith Dormitory. Elizabeth spent a semester studying in England before starting her teaching career in Louisville, Kentucky, and continuing onto Indianapolis before coming to Bloomington.She was very active in arts, theater and acting, she also played the piano and flute. Elizabeth was a Girl Scout leader and 10-year 4-H member who loved all animals and animal stories. She enjoyed traveling especially to New York City and Europe.Elizabeth was a prominent English teacher at Bloomington High School South for over 20 years. She made a profound impact on the lives of students and faculty throughout the school as a teacher, leader of the Academic Super Bowl Club, and an advocate for keeping libraries open, reading, and championing students to learn about renewable energy.Elizabeth is survived by her parents, Wolfgang and Judith von Buchler; brother, Matthew von Buchler; and her two cats, Lion and Mae.Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at First United Methodist Church, 219 E. ANDERSON [mdash] On Thursday, May 2, 2024, Robert "Bob" Bain, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away at the age of 74.He was preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Margaret (Copenhaver) Bain; siblings, Larry, Judy, Jerry, Sally; and son-in-law, Steve Craig.He is survived by his wife, Andrea (Fridley); children, Jacinda Brown (Matthew), Melia Craig; grandchildren, Katie and Ryan Craig; sisters, Sonia King and Vickie Arbuthnot; brother-in-law, Charlie Fridley; sister-in-law, Cindy Bain; and numerous nieces and nephews.Bob was born July 16, 1949, and raised in Distant, Pennsylvania. He was a standout football player, who was recruited by Anderson University to play football. Shortly after, Bob met the love of his life, Andrea, and settled down to start a family.He worked as a member of the management team at Kroger for many years, retiring after 43 years. He had a love and passion for the outdoors, yard work, and gardening. He was able to fully enjoy those hobbies after his retirement. Bob also enjoyed the many trips he and his wife took over the years, and especially to Las Vegas. He liked spending time with their daughter, son-in-law, Matthew, and the grand puppies, whom he loved dearly.He also loved visiting the many casinos, restaurants, and activities the city had to offer. One of his favorite spots was the Silverton Casino, where he hoped to win "Big Money." Bob cherished the many memories of the family vacations he took. He always loved going to Myrtle Beach, spending time on the Boardwalk, and walking along the ocean. Bob enjoyed everyday life as he did on vacations, to the fullest. He had such a kind and lighthearted personality, making sure others were taken care of before himself. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Bob was seen as a bright light in the lives of all who knew him. Bob enjoyed spending time passing down his knowledge of golf, as he was an avid player himself. He taught his grandchildren, Katie and Ryan how to play, and absolutely loved watching them both excel. He was always proud to tell people how his grandchildren went on to play at the collegiate level. He then served his country in the United States Air Force as a Russian language specialist. He was a tool and die maker for Delco Remy Division of General Motors, and retired after 37 years of service.He was an avid reader and gardener and had a fascination with technology. Phil is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Karen (Thompson) Hollingsworth; children, James (Naomi) Hollingsworth, Jessica (Mike) Robertson, and Jon (Karen) Hartley; several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.Also surviving are his sisters, Mary Stanton, Paula Hazelbaker, and Kathy Helton; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat, Shadow. Mildred graduated from Anderson High School Class of 1946 and Anderson Business College Secretarial school. She worked for Pierce Governor and was later employed by the City of Anderson as secretary to the mayor and to the Board of Public Works for 22 years. After retiring in 1998, she enjoyed reading, gardening, and feeding the birds and squirrels in her backyard. Her final years were in Charlotte with daughter Anne, son-in-law, Pete Jeffcoat; and dogs, Luke and Ginny. She is also survived by sons, Dan (Sheila) Gates and Gary (Maria Rago) Gates; several nieces, nephews, and stepgrandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Gates; her parents, Pierre and Madge (Main) Gephart; and brothers, Ralph, Lewis, Pierre, and Max Gephart.A Celebration of Life will be held at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, in June with a burial following in East Maplewood Cemetery. ANDERSON [mdash] Henry James Benak was born in Chicago to immigrants Jindrich and Kristína Šindelířová Benak on April 3, 1922.He attended Farragut High School. The family moved in 1939 to a farm in Tipton County, Indiana, where Henry graduated from Windfall High School in 1941. He began work in machine shops in Marion and Elwood.Henry enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II. His duties began with machinist training at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center. He had multiple duties before his assignment to the U.S.S. West Virginia. Henry received five Asiatic-Pacific Meritorious Combat Performance Awards for Battles of Surigao Strait, Leyte Gulf, Lingayen Gulf, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa. He also received three Philippine Liberation Awards, two American Campaign Awards, two WW II Victory Awards, and one Legion of Merit Award. Henry witnessed the formal surrender of Japan at Tokyo where he observed a bay full of U.S. and allied military "ships, as far as you could see." Henry married Margaret Eleanor Davies on Nov. 28, 1947. He worked at Forse Tool & Die and Guide Lamp's tool room before opening Quality Tool & Die renamed B & G Quality Tool & Die.Henry became an excellent trap and skeet shooter. He won the state High-Over-All Championship and multiple class awards. Henry became an unofficial coach at the Daleville Gun Club. He enjoyed many fishing vacations.Henry's beloved and beautiful Margaret died Oct. 2, 2015, after almost 68 years of marriage. On that day he opened his heart to accepting Jesus Christ into his life. Henry's loving parents predeceased him, as did his brother-in-law, James C. Terwilliger. Surviving Henry are his children, Henry Thomas (Patricia) Benak, Dr. Susan Gail Benak, Dr. David Rhys (Sue) Benak, and Dr. Janis Carol Benak (Dr. Douglas) Day; his grandchildren, Dr. Kelly Renee Benak (Dr. Mark Armstrong), Jennifer Lynn Benak, Keturah Leigh Benak (Keith Nimlo), Ezekiel Gregory Day, Alexander Galen Day, Rhys Andrew Day, Ens. Ryan Henry Day, USN, and Quinton Thomas Day; great-grandsons, Nikko Michael Nimlo and Nolan Benak Nimlo; and great-granddaughter, Luciana Joanne Nimlo. She married Alan Simmons in September 1992. She is survived by Alan, as well as her three children, Lance (Jeannie) Reger, Lynette Butler, and Lana (Scott) Shreves; her grandchildren, Lindsey, Grace and Ryan Butler, Katelyn and Skylar Shreves; two stepgrandchildren, Luke (Hannah) Smith and Lauren Smith; and her sister, Bonnie Whitehead.She was a beloved family member to Alan's children, Craig (Wendy) Simmons and Carla (Scott) Whiteman and numerous stepgrandchildren.Billie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elsie Tolbert; and her sisters, Donna Mesalam and Linda Judd.She graduated in 1965 from Pendleton High School and retired from KeyBank (formerly Citizens bank/Society Bank) in 2015, after 34 years of service. She lived in the Anderson/Pendleton area throughout her life.Billie was an avid supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. She married the love of her life, Royce Walker Elsworth, on June 3, 1956, at North Christian Church, in Markleville, Indiana, and enjoyed 67 wonderful years together.She was employed as cashier at Citizens Bank until she became the head cashier at Anderson College for 10 years. She then returned as cashier at Key Bank until her retirement in the 1990's.She was an avid reader and enjoyed time with her family on vacations to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Later, she enjoyed cheering on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren at their various sporting events.She leaves to cherish her memory by her husband, Walker; son, Jeffery D. MIDDLETOWN [mdash] Sue Ann Painter, 87, of Middletown, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at the Rawlins House in Pendleton.She was born on July 25, 1936, in Henry County, to the late Max and Evelyn (Holloway) Stonebraker.A 1954 graduate of Sulphur Springs High School Sue went on to get her master's degree from Ball State University. A longtime teacher, Sue taught second grade at Sulphur Springs Elementary School and then retired from Shenandoah in 1995. Sue had an impact on so many of her students at a very young age and she always looked to help others in her community. She was a member of Sulphur Springs Christian Church and the Eastern Star Chapter in Sulphur Springs. Sue loved being involved in all her kids and grandkids activities and sports. In her younger days, Sue was a great athlete and before there was any girls' sports, she enjoyed competing against the boys and often times beating them. Sue loved all animals especially dogs and the ducks she feed at the park. She was a huge Pacers fan and TJ McConnell was her favorite player. Sue and her husband Topper enjoyed traveling and taking yearly trips to Florida. Sue is survived by her husband, Hubert "Topper" Painter; sons, Greg Painter and John Painter; grandchildren, Ryan (Stephanie) Painter, Lori (Brad) McDole, Emily Painter and Madison Painter; Great grandchildren, Hunter, Jayden, Nolan, Kelsey, Rylan and Owen.Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Sulphur Springs Christian Church with Pastor CJ Buskirk officiating. ANDERSON [mdash] Robert Ward Dorris, 93, of Anderson, passed away May 2, 2024. He was born July 4, 1930, in Oklahoma City, and moved to Indianapolis with his parents in 1940. He attended Castle Heights Military Academy and graduated from Hayti High School in Missouri. He attended Southeast Missouri State College on a football scholarship and General Motors Institute, before and after military service. He graduated from University of Missouri with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was accepted into Pi Tau Sigma Engineering Honor Society, licensed professional engineer, member of Society of Automotive Engineers. Later, he received the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation. He was secretary-treasurer of Eastern Indiana Economics Club, member of Indiana Economic Forum, Indianapolis Economics Club, president of Anderson Country Club Men's Golf League.He was a Mason, member of the Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine, First Presbyterian Church, Anderson University Club. During World War II, he learned to fly with the Civil Air Patrol, soloed on his 16th birthday and got a private license a year later. He was in the Army during the Korean War and a member of the American Legion.Bob was recruited to Anderson in 1957 by the Guide Division of General Motors as a student engineer and left in 1968 as a senior engineer for Advanced Planning New Product Development to pursue an interest in finance. He was a registered investment advisor with Shearson-Hammill, and Trust Investment Officer for the Anderson Banking Co. prior to joining Indiana National Bank in 1976 as a security analyst. He retired in 1992 as vice president for Institutional Portfolio Management responsible for large foundations, endowments and pension plans. He was chairman of INB's Institutional Stock Selection Committee. Post retirement he worked for Wallington Asset Management until 1995. He taught F303 and F420 classes for 30 years as an adjunct professor of Finance in the Kelley School of Business at the Indiana University Indianapolis campus. He was a volunteer consultant with the Executive Service Corps and chaired two of its committees. In 1996 the City of Indianapolis gave him a key to the city in recognition of his advice on the city's finances.Bob was an active sports enthusiast. He began racing stock cars and motorcycles while in school, winning several state championships in the years that followed. He was a member of Spoke and Wheels Bicycle Club of Anderson and Speedway Wheelmen Bicycle Racing Team of Indianapolis. At one time he belonged to seven different bicycle clubs and participated in events in as many states, riding his bike up to 10, 000 miles per year. He enjoyed meeting with investment clubs and playing with his Border Collie.He is survived by his wife Marilyn, whom he met on a blind date to the Indy 500 in 1957; three daughters, Allison Dorris, Kristin (Stephen) Sturtz, Robin Cremeens; and son, Jonathan Dorris; grandchildren, Kasey, Shelby, and Jody Sturtz, Alexa (Christopher) Economos, Anna and Nathan Dorris; great-grandchildren, Eliana Williamson, Leo and Zoe Economos.He was preceded in death by son-in-law, Joseph Cremeens; and grandson, Jacob Rhodus.Cremation has been chosen with burial at a later date at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites.Memorial contributions may be made to Indy 1 Foundation. Buck on May 22, 1943, in Loretto, Pennsylvania. A resident of Greendale, Indiana, for almost 70 years, Hilda made a lasting impact on the lives of those around her.Throughout her career, Hilda held various positions, including office manager at Bender Electric Co. in Carrolltown, Pennsylvania, secretary to the Assistant Chief of the Department of Public Assistance in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and secretary at the Naval Supply Depot in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. After raising her five children, she worked as a tax examiner for the IRS in Covington, Kentucky.As an active member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, Hilda's faith was an integral part of her life. She served as a lector, Eucharistic Minister, CCD teacher, and was involved in numerous committees including the Liturgy Committee, Church Decoration Committee, Christ Renews His Parish group, Daughters of Isabel Society, and Prison Ministry.Hilda's passion for community extended beyond her church. She was a member of Tri Kappa Sorority, the Hidden Valley Lake Garden Club, and became a Master Gardener, showcasing her love for nature and beautifying her surroundings. Hilda and her husband enjoyed traveling around the United States as well as internationally. Their favorite trip together was to Egypt and The Holy Land.At the age of 77, Hilda's thirst for knowledge led her to take classes alongside regular students at Mount St. Joseph College in Cincinnati, Ohio. She took many classes, including art, photography, English, poetry, and psychology. It was there that she discovered her talent for writing poetry, and many of her poems were published.Hilda was preceded in death by her husband, Cyrus R. Buck; four brothers; six sisters; and son-in-law, Dick Luckerman. Diana worked for a number of years as a waitress but recently, she worked for Publix in Florida.She loved driving her Mustang convertible with the top down through the back roads of Florida. Diana enjoyed reading, Sudoku, and people watching. Diana worked her whole life, so she enjoyed the little things in life, like visiting her favorite beach, Picnic Island in Florida. Marianne was a member of the Moose Lodge of Anderson. She loved playing euchre, and board games, traveling to casinos with her closest friends, and spending time with her family. She and her husband, James Tolliver, had 10 beautiful children before his passing in 1989. Albertina was preceded in death by her loving parents, Rev. Arthur and Mrs. Zula Lewis; her daughter Carolyn Tolliver and several sisters and brothers. She is survived by her other nine children Jean Morehead, Pam Jackson, of Anderson, Indiana; Mack Tolliver, Flora Williams, Beverly Harding, Dewayne Tolliver, all of Louisiana, and Faye Steele, Elizabeth Parker, Lucille James, all of Chicago, Illinois. She will be remembered by her 131 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, church family and friends. Celebration Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Pasadena Heights Church of God, 2305 N. ALEXANDRIA [mdash] Dennis Arthur Biele, 68, of Alexandria died peacefully surrounded by family and friends on April 23, 2024. Dennis was a Christian. He was a great family man and friend. Dennis was a remarkable individual defined by his unwavering dedication to those he loved. He was an avid bird watcher, a devout Cubs fan and a hobby fisherman. He mostly loved spending time with family and friends. Dennis was more than his hobbies and interests. He was a man of compassion, humor and sweetness. He was an accomplished nurse. He earned his bachelor of science in nursing from Anderson University in 1995. Prior to his nursing career, he graduated from seminary. He served as a youth pastor in Tennessee and as a chaplain in the Air Force Reserves. Dennis spent his entire nursing career at Community Hospital Anderson. He made a lifelong impact on the lives of countless patients. He was a natural caregiver. He was known for going above and beyond. Dennis had a passion for education and empowering patients. It was not unheard of for him to give patients rides, buy and deliver groceries or go visit them at home. His generous spirit was felt by anyone he met. Dennis' kindness, warmth and infectious laughter will be deeply missed by all those who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Tammy Biele; daughter Rachel (Grant) Slagle; two stepsons Willie (Jenny) Ray and Levi (Tara) Albea; grandchildren Hylah, Howie and Ruby Albea; unofficial first grandchild Amy Mack; his good friend Ken Snyder; and many other extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Florence Biele, and his brother Robert Biele. Jim was born on March 18, 1945, in Lorain, Ohio, to the late Joseph and Margaret (Arty) Kovach. Jim was married to the love of his life, Sandy Kovach, for 53 years. Jim proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Army as a young man. He was a helicopter pilot in the Vietnam War, flying Hueys in combat and rescue missions. Jim was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and American Huey 369. His unwavering faith and trust in Jesus was the most important thing in his life. He always strived to live according to God's word. John was a hardworking, honest man, who never rushed to judgment. DALLAS [mdash] On July 9, 1954, in Anderson Indiana, John (Cuppie) Broadnax and Dorothy J. Broadnax welcomed their fourth son, Kelvin D. Broadnax. Kelvin graduated from Anderson High School and went on to Anderson College, where he received a bachelor's in social work. Kelvin was an employee at General Motors, and retired after 30 years. With an IQ over 160, Kelvin was officially classified as a genius. Humble in spirit, he chose to be a humanitarian in life, always focusing on the welfare of others. In Anderson, Kelvin was regarded as a historian. He often completed mini biographies of local residents and presented the information to them in binders, his personal version of "This is your life." Kelvin was a camp counselor for the Anderson Boy's Club for many years and a excellent role model. Kelvin always looked for opportunities to give back to the community. Kelvin will be greeted in the afterlife by his parents and his brother John Merwyn Broadnax. He is survived by his sister Joi Broadnax, of Dallas Texas, and his brothers Robert Dallas Broadnax, of Anderson, Indiana, James Phillippe Broadnax (Janie), of Dallas, Texas, and Terrance Broadnax, of Fisher, Indiana. She graduated from Anderson High School in 1961 and later graduated from Tiffin University in 1983. On Oct. 19, 1962, she was married to Cordell (Cory) Clure Williams, who survives in Findlay. They shared 61 wonderful years together.Jane was a bookkeeper, and was employed at Acme Beverage and O.H. Materials. She adored her family and truly enjoyed spending time with them. She was an animal lover and enjoyed crochet and needlework. She was a member of Church of Christ.In addition to Cordell, Jane is survived by her children Nana (Dave) Flick, John (Toni) Williams, Jeffrey (Kim) Williams and Cory (Sabrina) Williams. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
