The story perfectly mixes new characters such a Hailee Steinfeld's, without ruining the legacy of Jeremy Renner's. However Kingpin was botched in the finale. On November 22, 2020, it was revealed that the series had started filming in Atlanta. On November 30, 2020, it was reported that Florence Pugh would be reprising her role as Yelena Belova in the series. Two days later, it was reported that Hailee Steinfeld had been officially cast as Kate Bishop in the series.

When asked specifically about reprising his role as Hawkeye, Renner said, “I'm always game. I'm gonna be strong enough, that's for sure. I'll be ready. All those guys come to my bedside and they've been with me all along through this recovery, so … if they want me, they could have me.

They think that “the Hawkeye show is the worst” because they “tuned in wanting to watch Jeremy Renner” but found that it featured “other characters” too often. It's hard to imagine what the series might look like if it only prominently features Clint.
